Person-Centered Planning: A Tool for Transition - The
expression, “It takes a village to raise a child,” is never more true
than when talking about a child with a disability. Young people with
disabilities need a support system that recognizes their individual
strengths, interests, fears, and dreams and allows them to take charge
of their future. Parents, teachers, family members, and friends in the
community who offer informal guidance, support, and love can create
the “village” for every child.

What is Person Centered Planning? - Person Centered Planning
was put forth as a concept as a result of the Michigan Mental Health
Code, Act No. 290, Public Acts of 1995. Person Centered Planning means
that a client's opinions, preferences and values will direct treatment
services. Our professional staff will assist you in this process as
well as advise you of the supports and services that can assist your
family.
Person Centered Planning
(PCP) - Last year Michigan students won a huge victory when
they sued the state to extend the comment period. Their winning
argument was they were stakeholders in the rules process and deserved
reasonable time to prepare and participate. Their winning slogan was
“Nothing about me without me.” They opened all of our eyes and
completely changed the focus of the rules. |
